Our Story
Carol
I remember it was 25 November 2023 — a Christmas party organised by the Kenyan community
in London. Mutual friends decided we should all carpool, so I found myself sitting right
next to OJ. We talked all evening: good food, good music, and even better conversation.
OJ
By the end of the night, I had Carol's number — the Ugandan way, of course, gotten from
our mutual friends rather than asking her myself. I texted her the second we'd dropped her
home, and after that we spoke every single day, going on a couple of dates in between.
Carol
Two weeks after that Christmas party, I flew to Uganda. We spent hours on the phone getting
to know each other properly, and I could tell this was becoming something more than a few
good dates.
OJ
When I realised Carol would be there for at least two months, I booked a flight out myself
— better to spend that time together in person than just talking every night on the phone.
Over the months that followed, our friendship deepened into something more. Three years on
from that first meeting, we're ready to cement our love and start our forever chapter.
